Giving Back!

Giving back!

At the beginning of the year I set out to do some things that would allow me to use the site/brand as a vehicle to give back to the community. My goal was to do something that promoted the hunting lifestyle, stewardship, and had a local feel. There are many mega organizations that we could support and do so on an annual basis such as Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the National Wild Turkey Federation. However, I felt that we needed something closer to home in Texas. That being said we are happy to announce that on annual basis we will be donating to the Hunters for the Hungry program here in Texas. This is a great organization and does a tremendous job of helping the 1 in 5 Texas families that go without or struggle to put food on the table.

Here is a little bit of information on how the program works:

Hunters can donate their legally harvested and tagged deer to a participating processor in their local area. The animal is then processed and sent to a local food bank for distribution. The Hunter assumes the cost (donation ~$40) which may also be used as a tax deductible donation (consult with your tax advisor to confirm). In addition a person may also donate to the organization as well online at http://hfth.tfbn.org/donate-now or you can mail a donation, check or money order to:

Texas Food Bank Network
C/O Hunters for the Hungry
1524 South IH-35, Suite 342
Austin, TX 78704

The Hunters for the Hungry program has been in existence as part of The Texas Food Bank Network a 501 (c) 3 non – profit organization and has helped donate over 2 million pounds of high quality meat to Texas families for over 20 years. All donations direct to the organization are tax deductible so I encourage you all to either help pitch in to a great cause either with a donated harvest or any amount you can afford financially.

Thanks for all your support and living A Hunter’s Life through conservation, stewardship, and giving.
