Happy Birthday America!
One of my first posts that I did was a trip that we took with my Dad back a few years ago detailing our salmon trip over the 4th of July. Well here we are back again to fill up the freezer with some great fish from Lake Michigan. We fish with Captain Paul Schafley out of Manistee, MI. Without a doubt he is one of the top Captains on the west coast of Michigan, if you are looking for a great trip look him up, his dates book up quick because he catches fish. This year the fishing was a little different but nonetheless still exciting. We only caught one salmon but slayed the steelhead!
Sun rise on Lake Michigan. Beautiful setting.
Fish on! Caught some really nice steelhead on this trip.
Couldn’t be happier with this catch! We cooked up some fresh steelhead that day and I think the trout was my favorite over the salmon.
Dad reeled in this Laker and he was clearly odd shaped probably was hung up in a net or something as a youngster, had to get a picture of this. He will still taste great on the grill!
Big tanker coming down the river.
Priceless, Dad loves his salmon, I am sure that one taste great in the smoker.
Me with a salmon.
Bring it – it doesn’t get much better than loading up the cooler with some great fish! My cousin Gary a new addition this year to the trip.
My niece Taylor making it happen!
Lake Michigan at its best!
Fresh out of the water straight to the grill! My favorite way to cook it by far.
